Gigi Lisauskiene is a powerhouse. Well known in the beauty industry, she is the CEO and founder of both Blossom and Jasmine (an exclusive mobile beauty service) and her new company Gigi Loves. Gigi counts numerous celebrities amongst her clients, including A-listers such as Uma Thurman. Recently Gigi caught up with Tara Crowe to discuss life, work and why Ingenious Beauty is her favourite supplement.
Tara: Hi Gigi, how have things been for you and your business during 2020?
Gigi: Well, to be honest, I was a little anxious when Lockdown began. But as the weeks passed, the challenges thrown up by this ‘new normal’ have inspired me to develop my business in new and exciting ways. Complacency leads to stagnation. But when all the rules suddenly change, one finds new inspiration from overcoming the many hurdles that now lie ahead. This is why I love doing what I do.
Tara: How did you come to set up Blossom and Jasmine?
Gigi: After working in the beauty and wellness sector for a number of years, gaining insights at every juncture, one day I realized that I was able to not just see and understand where the industry had come from, but, even more importantly, where it should be going. I knew then that I was ready to help shape that future – and the best way to do so, was to take the leap and set up Blossom & Jasmine.
Tara: Who are your heroes?
Gigi: That’s easy… In first, second and third place is my grandmother. She taught me the most important life-lesson: The difference between doing what is right and not doing what is wrong.
Tara: What is the best advice you’ve ever been given?
Gigi: Paradoxically, it was: “Never give advice, take it..” When you speak, you already know what you’re going to say. But when you listen, there’s always the chance of learning something new…
Tara: What are your top beauty tips?
Gigi: Drink lots of water, use coconut oil instead of rich moisturiser at night, take a good collagen supplement and laugh a lot. It’s natural vitamin C!
Tara: How long have you been taking collagen?
Gigi: I started a little over 2 years ago when I discovered Ingenious Beauty. I was amazed by the results within just a few weeks. My skin, hair and nails all improved and I have been a huge fan ever since. I recommend it to everyone I meet. I cannot live without it now.
Tara: What other things can’t you live without? Do you have any guilty pleasures?
Gigi: I’m very partial to pecan pie – especially from a certain delicatessen in Petworth… But, in truth, guilt and pleasure reach a simultaneous high whenever I get to wear a pair of shoes from my cherished Jimmy Choos collection…
Tara: What is the last thing that made you cry?
Gigi: Oh… I cry all the time… It’s the one concession I allow myself as a strong business woman trying to make her mark in a man’s world…. And if you don’t believe me, just show me a picture of a Chow Chow puppy…
Tara: So what is next on the horizon – do you have any exciting plans?
Gigi: In the near-term, I hope to consolidate Blossom & Jasmine with my other enterprises, GiGi Loves and Gigi SOS. This way, I can offer the sort of holistic one-stop life portal that delivers both in the good times and bad. After that, I’d really like to move from the world of business to perhaps setting up a charity… I have a number of wellness-based ideas that I believe could help bring more people into a state of daily joy.
